New life for old plastic
Your old guttering, car bumpers and plastic window frames can now be kept out of landfill thanks to a new quality protocol on turning non-packaging plastic into new raw materials.
Quality protocol for non-packaging plastics
The quality protocol for the manufacture of secondary raw materials from waste non-packaging plastics describes how you can produce a new material from waste plastic, other than waste plastic packaging.
You can follow the quality protocol to produce materials from waste plastics generated or recovered from:
• primary plastics production, eg process scrap
• construction and demolition sites, eg guttering and plastic window frames
• waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), eg casing
• end-of-life vehicles (ELV), eg bumpers and dashboards.
The quality protocol describes when used non-packaging material is no longer classed as a waste and can be used without waste management controls to produce new plastic products
